MATERIAL LIST FOR WIRE WORKING I
Instructor: LIBBY BURFORD

You will need:

1. Chain nose pliers - jeweler's

2. Round nose pliers

3. Wire Side Cutter

4. 18 gauge copper wire
20 gauge copper wire

5. Assorted beads

6. Flat nose pliers(optional)

Items 1-5 are necessary. We will have some tools - pliers, etc. - on hand, if you
do not already have them or cannot get your own. If you are buying tools, look for
German or Swiss made. The sets made in India tend to be so imprecise as to be
difficult to work with. You want jeweler's tools, not beading tools.

The copper wire is available at hardware stores in 25' rolls. We will be using it for
all the samples and trial work. If you want to work in silver also, bring:

  • 5-6' 18 ga. silver wire
  • 5-6' 20 ga. silver wire
  • 3-4' 22-24 ga. silver, if you have it on hand.

For the beads nothing smaller than 6mm (1/4") on up to as large as you wish. Bring
plenty to work with. They need not match, but should harmonize.

If you have any questions, call the Craft Center at 858-534-2021 and leave your name
and number, and I will call you back. Or call 858-534-1444, the Jewelry Studio.
