* You may select the project you'd like to make. Some suggestions might be a decorative box, picture frame or mirror frame, small end table or plant stand, flower pot serving tray, etc.. Remember you'll need to carry it back and forth to class so you'll want to avoid anything too large or heavy to transport. Your object to cover can be made of ceramic, metal, plastic, glass, wood, or acrylic. Please note that whatever you choose must be rigid and able to support the weight of the tile and grout. Anything that flexes even a little bit will no be satisfactory as your grout will end up cracking. Items made of cardboard will not work as they will absorb moisture from the "glue" and will not support the weight of the tile.
* Bring tile or old plates, pieces of glass, (preferably flat such as that used in stained glass), and anything else that crosses your mind as being something you'd like to use to embellish your object.
* Bring a hammer. Each person needs to have their own hammer.
(like he kind for hammering in nails.... a rubber mallet will not work).
* Brown paper grocery bags, 2 or 3.
* Trays to keep your colors of broken tile separate such as heavy duty paper plates
or styrofoam trays like meat comes in at the grocery store. Bring several.
